IKEA Matter: Seven Running, Twelve More Boxes to Open

IKEA's 2026 smart home range is 21 Matter over Thread products, and seven of them already run in this house. Twelve more just arrived: six KAJPLATS bulbs from 450 to 1600 lumens, two GRILLPLATS indoor plugs with energy metering, an IP44-rated TOFSMYGGA outdoor plug, and more sensors. Nothing here is tested yet, so this page is a list of what is coming rather than a verdict. The reviews follow once each device has been living in the house long enough to say something useful.
IKEA announced 21 Matter-compatible products in November 2025 and started shipping them from January 2026. Seven are already running here. A box of the rest arrived this week.
Nothing in that photo has been tested. This page exists so you know what is coming and can judge the reviews when they land.
What already runs here
These have been in the house long enough to have opinions about. All Matter over Thread, reaching an Apple TV 4K and two HomePod minis acting as border routers.

The MYGGSPRAY already has a review, and the short version is that its lux reading matters more than its motion sensing.
What just arrived
Twelve boxes.
KAJPLATS bulbs, six of them, all E26 with a 360 degree beam and wireless dimming: two at 450 lumens, one at 800, two at 1100 and one at 1600. Most are tunable white. One of the 1100 lumen bulbs is the full colour version, so I can compare colour against white spectrum in the same wattage.
GRILLPLATS, two indoor smart plugs with energy metering.
TOFSMYGGA, an outdoor plug rated IP44.
Sensors and controls: another TIMMERFLOTTE, two more MYGGBETT door and window sensors, and another BILRESA dual button.
The bulbs interest me most.
Lighting is where IKEA has the longest history, going back to the Zigbee TRÅDFRI range this line replaces, and it is also where the current Leedarson bulbs in this house have already set a low price to beat.
The plugs close a gap. This house runs Meross, VOCOlinc and iDevices plugs, none of them Matter, so a GRILLPLATS is the first chance to compare a Thread plug against the Wi-Fi incumbents doing the same job. The outdoor TOFSMYGGA has no equivalent here at all.
What the testing will cover
The same things every review here covers, which for a range this cheap comes down to a few questions.
Whether Adaptive Lighting works properly on the KAJPLATS bulbs. The range covers 2200K to 6500K, so it has the tunable white that Adaptive Lighting requires, and there are already reports of the bulbs mishandling whites below 2700K under Apple’s curve. That is a specific claim I can check rather than repeat.
Whether GRILLPLATS energy reporting shows up in Apple Home or stays in IKEA’s app, and how it sits at the wall. The iDevices Switch still wins that comparison after nine years because of its side-facing outlet. Day-one answer on the first half: the first GRILLPLATS went in on August 3 and live wattage shows directly in Apple Home, 23 W on the bedside lamp it now controls. Whether Thread coverage holds as the device count climbs. Ten Matter accessories currently route through three border routers here. Adding twelve more roughly doubles the mesh, which is a real test rather than a theoretical one.
And whether any of it is still working in a year, which is the only question that separates this site from a spec sheet.
What I already know
IKEA’s range is Matter over Thread rather than Wi-Fi, so it needs a border router Apple Home will actually use. An Apple TV 4K with a Thread radio or a HomePod. The Thread radio in your Wi-Fi router does not count, and neither does IKEA’s own DIRIGERA hub if your accessories live in Apple Home.
Matter vendor ID 4476 identifies IKEA of Sweden, and it is what your accessories will report to Apple Home regardless of what the box says.
When the reviews land
Each device gets written up once it has done a real job for long enough to be worth reporting. For sensors that means weeks. For bulbs it means a season, because colour temperature behaviour changes as daylight does.
Until then this page stays a list rather than a recommendation. None of these products has a rating attached, and none of them should.
