eufyCam 2 Review: Six Years On, Real Battery Life Numbers

A eufyCam 2 kit bought in June 2020, two cameras and a HomeBase 2, is the one camera purchase in this house that hasn't broken, where three cameras from other brands did. Recording ran through HomeKit Secure Video the whole time, and the HomeBase 2 still shows up on the network. Charges lasted three to six months against the 365-day claim, though that was with settings maxed and steady foot traffic in frame.

- Still in service after six years, where three other cameras failed
- Records through HomeKit Secure Video with no eufy subscription
- The outdoor unit came through several seasons with no water intrusion
- Neither camera has needed a re-pair
What doesn't
- Charges lasted three to six months against a 365-day claim
- Recharging two cameras two to four times a year is a chore
- The 2020 kit is superseded by newer eufy models
I bought a eufyCam 2 kit, two cameras and a HomeBase 2, on June 27, 2020. Six years later it is the only camera hardware in this house that has never failed.
Two Logitech Circle 2 cameras from 2017 and a D-Link Omna from 2019 all died within about two years, which I’ve written up in nine years of camera longevity. The eufy kit outlasted all three.
Battery life
eufy advertised 365 days per charge. I got three to six months.
I had every recording setting turned up as far as it would go, deliberately minimizing how much the cameras slept, and one of them was mounted on an exterior wall overlooking a busy sidewalk, where every person who walked past was a wake event.
That’s close to a worst case. A camera on a quiet side of a house, on default settings, would land far nearer eufy’s number. I chose maximum sensitivity knowing it would shorten the charge, because I wanted the coverage.
Recharging two cameras two to four times a year is a real chore.
HomeKit Secure Video
The cameras bridge into Apple Home through the HomeBase 2, and they recorded through HomeKit Secure Video. Clips analyzed on my home hub, encrypted, stored in iCloud under a plan I was already paying for, with no eufy subscription on top.
Placement
One indoor, one outdoor, and the mix moved around over the years. The weatherproofing did its job on the exterior unit through several seasons without any water intrusion or fogging that I noticed.
The other eufy camera
Two weeks after the kit, on July 12, 2020, I bought a eufy 2K Indoor Cam as well. It’s the plug-in model, sold these days as the Indoor Cam C120. That one has worked well too, and when a camera here needs replacing I plan to replace it with a current eufy model.
Hands-on notes
Bought June 27, 2020: two cameras plus a HomeBase 2, run in a mix of indoor and outdoor positions, with HomeKit Secure Video handling the recording from the start.
The battery numbers above cover the full six years of ownership. Neither camera has needed re-pairing that I can recall, and the HomeBase 2 is live on my network as I write this.
Verdict
This kit has outlived every other camera in the house. The one thing I hold against it is climbing a ladder twice a year to recharge it.
If you run the settings hard, put the busiest camera somewhere you can reach without a ladder.

Common questions
How long does the eufyCam 2 battery last?
Mine needed a recharge every three to six months, well short of the 365 days eufy advertises. I had the recording settings at their maximum, so the cameras rarely slept, and one of them covered a high-traffic spot. Stock settings and a quieter view would stretch each charge a lot further.
Does eufyCam 2 work with HomeKit Secure Video?
Yes. Pair the HomeBase 2 with Apple Home and both cameras show up there, with recording handled by HomeKit Secure Video. You'll need a home hub such as an Apple TV or HomePod plus a paid iCloud+ plan.
Is the eufyCam 2 still worth buying in 2026?
The kit itself is old now and eufy sells newer models. The reason to look at eufy is the track record: this one has been in continuous service since June 2020, in a house where two Logitech Circle 2s and a D-Link Omna each gave out inside a couple of years.
Do eufy cameras need a subscription?
No. Footage stays on the HomeBase itself, or lands in your iCloud storage when HomeKit Secure Video is doing the recording. eufy charges no monthly fee either way.
